Viz for Social Good 2019
A reflection of a breakthrough year
We are extremely grateful for all the support provided by our volunteers, non-profit partners, sponsors and followers. Together we harnessed the power of data to tell stories through our compelling and beautiful data visualizations.
We partnered with mission driven organizations worldwide and launched projects to raise awareness on poverty, diversity, gender equality, plight of human rights defenders, hunger, furniture poverty, refugee education, pollution, childhood obesity, girls in STEM and the environment.
Our compassionate volunteers selflessly dedicated their time and expertise to visualize societal issues, share best practices and support one another to foster our global volunteer community.
The rapid expansion of new chapters, growth of the volunteer base and increase in partnerships necessitated the formation of a Board Committee. Viz for Social Good’s Board members have been working together to strengthen its ability to scale globally in functions such as marketing, chapter, community and volunteer management, partnerships and education.
Viz for Social Good was invited to speak at major industry conferences including Tableau Conference Berlin, Tableau Conference Las Vegas, DataX New York, Data and AI Marketing Toronto. We continued to promote data for good at a number of local user groups, educational institutions and private sector organizations. Chapter led hackathons were a success and volunteers came together to collaborate and present their analysis and inspiring visualizations.
We are grateful to our nonprofit partners who generously gave us their time, shared their passion for social good and opened up their data sets to our volunteers. The data was brought to life and hundreds of stories were told.
Our impact was far reaching in 2019. We feel honoured to say that we are helping to make this world a better place. Thank you for enabling Viz for Social Good to make a difference.
